CPM Leader Sushanta Ghosh Attacked During 1st Phase Of Bengal Polls

During the primary part of West Bengal meeting elections, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate for the Salboni constituency, Sushanta Ghosh, was attacked by unknown males. Mr Ghosh was attacked at Salboni by unidentified males earlier than being escorted away by safety.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.

The first part of the meeting polls is witnessing a triangular contest in Salboni between Ghosh, Trinamool Congress’ Srikanto Mahato and Bharatiya Janata Party”s (BJP) Rajib Kundu.

Earlier, the Purba Medinipur district woke as much as a chaotic begin to the polls as bombing and firing befell within the Bhagabanpur constituency, through which two safety personnel have been injured. Meanwhile, BJP chief Samit Das has accused the ruling TMC of making disturbances throughout the polls.

Voting for the primary of the eight-phase meeting polls in West Bengal started at 7 am on Saturday.

All constituencies in Purulia, Jhargram and segments of Bankura, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur are going to determine the electoral destiny of 191 candidates, together with 21 ladies. The polling ended at 6.30 pm.
